This article applies to the following ScreenBeam products:
Setting a Custom Background Image
You’ve completed setting up your CMS server and configured receiver(s) for management. Now, let’s make sure everything is working properly by performing two basic CMS tasks. First, let’s see if we can set a custom background image for one of your receivers. In the next section, we will perform a firmware update to one of your receivers.
1. |
Previously, in the IIS Web Server setup section, you were asked to copy a background image file to the screenbeam directory of the web server. Please complete this step before proceeding. |
|
2. |
In CMS, select a receiver to change the background on. The selected receiver will be highlighted. Go to the Policy tab and select Set Background. |
|
3. |
Enter the URL path for the background image. The URL will be in the format http://[IP address of web server]/screenbeam/background.jpg |
|
4. |
Click Test URL to verify that the URL can be reached and that the background image file exists. Click Execute. |
|
5. |
The background image file will be transferred to the selected receiver and a reboot will occur to complete the change. Verify the new background image after reboot. |
|
Perform a Firmware Update
Verify you can perform a firmware update through CMS to one of your receivers.
1. |
Previously, in the IIS Web Server setup section, you were asked to copy a firmware image file, install.img, to the screenbeam directory of the web server. Please complete this step before proceeding. |
|
2. |
In CMS, select a receiver to perform a firmware update. Go to the Policy tab and select Update Firmware. |
|
3. |
Enter the URL path for the firmware update file. The URL will be in the format http://[IP address of web server]/screenbeam/install.img |
|
4. |
Click Test URL to verify that the URL can be reached, and that the firmware image file exists. Click Execute. |
|
5. |
The firmware image file will be transferred to the selected receiver and a reboot will occur to complete the change. Note: If the firmware image file you are trying to load is the same or older than the firmware on the receiver, the update will stop. The CMS is functioning correctly if the firmware update at least attempted to load. |
